des-Lys (−128 Da) at 0.53 % points at an incomplete coupling rather than at decomposition. Deletion sequences do not form in a vial; they form on a resin, and they are fixed by a double coupling rather than by a colder courier.

If the dominant species is an oxidation product the finding is about handling; if it is a deletion or a diastereomer the finding is about synthesis. On this record it is des-Lys (−128 Da), which settles the question.
