Mass at +1.6 ppm establishes identity but not content. Absolute content needs a standard or an orthogonal quantitative method, and neither is a mass spectrometer.

If the nearest impurity carries an aromatic residue the parent lacks, dual-wavelength detection separates them without any chromatographic change at all. Cheap and underused.
